I was diagnosed with Periodontal Disease and I haven’t spoken to a periodontist yet, only a general dentist. Should I be worried that I am being scammed?

Great tips! Thank you for sharing. Kindly share the clock positions for adequate cleaning. I find it difficult to access posteriors and sometimes mandibular anteriors too when the patient has limited mouth opening.

After a deep cleaning my dentist told me that now I have to go there every 3 months for periodontal maintenance and I will never go back to my regular cleanings (paid by my insurance). I suspect it is a way for some American dentists to steal more money from you and your insurance. In other countries you go to the dentist after 3 months if you have problems and then you go after 6 months if you still hand problems. You don’t go every 3 months for the rest of your life!
I had the same exact experiance. The thing is I dont mind paying to be healthy BUT when I question my dentist and hygenist, they get give me BS answers that are hold no merit.
I WISH I could go every three months! Having worked in a dental office before, I’ve seen many people with similar complaints and the truth is it’s far more beneficial to health
@@cmr728 I went to a good Italian dentist in Italy and told me yes usually it can be a good idea to go every three months but then he visited me and he say absolutely in my case I don’t need every three months, six is perfectly ok. By the way he also told me I don’t have cavities. The American dentist not only wanted me to do the cleaning every six months but he also told me I have 2 cavities. They just want your money many American specialists.

yes normally, there is a code to use. The ins co knows it is protocol to do this type of moure thorough cleaning 4 x a year instead of 2 x a year. Call your ins co and ask.

I think you may want to relook at your last advice. Made some hair stand up on the back of neck a little. Kathy Forbes, Pres of Professional Seminars, Inc, might teach that you can just put all the wording of what you do for a PM, and change the title on top to call your days procedures a prophy. A prophy is saying there are not periodontal pockets. Say, if they only pay for a prophy and you do PM, you say you did a PM but they are only going to pay at the level of a prophy. Just may want to rethink if the advice is advising something fraudulent. Thank you for your spirit.

InspiredHygiene, if you don't have pockets or 5mm perio depths, but have bone loss what can cause bone loss if you don't have any gum diseases or gingivitis?
Grinding and clenching, crooked teeth: any issue that puts excessive force on teeth will do it.
Yearly check ups for cancer are great for the medical and pharmaceutical industries. They keep checking and frightening you and when they finally tracked something they make you spend all your money until you die as they can’t help you anyway. But a least you get a soothing head massage. Wow!
